The Torch Hub is working with learndirect to deliver e-learning to the Army and Navy. With hundreds of specially created online courses you can obtain qualifications in Maths, English, Computing and Business & Management.

NVQs

NVQs are work related, competence based qualifications, which reflect the skills and knowledge needed to do a job effectively and show that a candidate is competent in the area of work the NVQ represents. The Torch Hub is able to offer six NVQs that are most suited to the defence community:

  • ITQ Level 2 - a top up progression route for those learners who complete ECDL
  • NVQ Level 2 in Customer Services - suitable for those who work in a people focused environment
  • NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration – suitable for those who deal daily with administrative tasks
  • NVQ Level 2 in Team Leading – suitable for those who are responsible for leading a team
  • NVQ Level 2 in Plant Machinery Operations – a top up progression route for pre-level 2 learners only who have completed the Fork Lift Truck course
  • NVQ Level 3 in Management – only suitable for those who manage a team of people and allocate & monitor work

Other Qualifications

You can also achieve a nationally recognised qualification in the following subjects:

  • Adult Literacy or Numeracy
  • OCR Entry Level 3 in Digital Literacy
  • ECDL Essentials
  • ECDL
  • ECDL Extra
  • Institute of Leadership and Management Awards in Team Leading at Level 2 and First Line Management at Level 3
  • Chartered Management Institute Level 3 Certificate and Level 5 Diploma
  • NPTC Level 2 Certificate in Fork Lift Truck Operation
