More women "are willing to take the risk" in business

More women are succeeding in business now because more are willing to take risks, an expert has said.

More women than ever before are willing to tackle the perils of the business world, it has been argued.

Tanya Hine, president of the British Association of Women Entrepreneurs, said that often the metaphorical glass ceiling - which is said to keep females from reaching the top - is created by women themselves because they do not wish to work as long hours as men and are committed to raising a family.

However, this has changed in recent times, with an increasing number of women aiming to be as successful as possible in the corporate sector, no matter how much time they have to invest to get there.

"There are more women who are willing to take the risk than before," Ms Hine explained.

The latest Office for National Statistics Working Lives study revealed that the current employment rate for women is 70 per cent, although approximately 50 per cent of positions held by females are part-time.
