E-learning 'part of the training mix'

Value-for-money training can be provided in part through e-learning, an expert says.

A training expert says companies should consider how e-learning can be part of an effective strategy for these companies to be attractive to clients.

Graham O'Connell, the head of organisational learning and standards at the National School of Government, spoke to Training Zone about the attraction of e-learning to employers who wanted value for money.

"Value, value and value" was something clients always had their attention on, regardless of the national economic situation, he noted.

However, in times threatened by recession, he suggested value was even more important.

"With less money around, total volumes may go down, but quality [training] providers will usually still hold a good market share," he said.

He added: "There are some obvious tactics to consider such as shorter programmes, more e-learning in the mix and bigger group sizes.

The Training Zone article also revealed how training professionals consider "real value" and networking as the keys to success.
