Harrow council makes service modifications in light of Customer Care Week.

Harrow council is to attempt to improve the service it offers the public by getting rid of jargon that people often find confusing, it has been announced.

According to LocalGov.co.uk, the removal of so-called councilise phrases - such as using the term civic amenity site for rubbish tip - is part of a strategy that will be rolled out during national Customer Care Week.

The council has also set a number of targets for the length of time it takes to deal with email, telephone of personal enquiries.

Councillor Paul Osborn suggested the scheme comes from listening to the demands of the general public.

"Our residents want to hear plain speaking and that is what we'll deliver," he remarked.

Customer Care Week runs until October 12th and numerous councils are taking part, including Basingstoke and Dean, which wants members of the public to nominate council employees who give them good service during the seven-day period.
