Pioneering work secures prizes for Black Country research business.
A new cushion designed to prevent the onset of deep vein thrombosis has been credited with helping Medical Devices Technology International (MDTI) to secure two awards from the African Caribbean Business Federation.
The Express and Star reported that the Wolverhampton company picked up the gongs for Business of the Year and Business Growth, aided by the Physio-Master cushion and pioneering work with intravenous drips through the HookOn device.
Martin Levermore, MDTI's chief executive, said that the accolades demonstrate innovation can go hand-in-hand with creating a successful business, which he claimed has created jobs, improved patient care and given the local economy a boost.
"We are passionate in what we do and are committed to taking good ideas and turning them into reality for the good of patients locally, nationally and throughout the world," he remarked.
The awards ceremony took place at the Copthorne Hotel in Brierley Hill, with more than 200 people in attendance.
Other products offered by MDTI include the RhinoPinch, Uflow, Femmax and the Ortho-Glide.
