Young entrepreneurs offered survival tips

New initiative will offer new business owners advice on riding out recession.

Young entrepreneurs are to be offered expert advice on guiding their business through the choppy waters of the current economic downturn thanks to a new initiative in Yorkshire.

Under the scheme, chartered accountant Clough & Company will make its partners available to small business owners in one-on-one advice sessions starting on October 20th, the Business Desk reports.

The sessions, which will be offered on a first come, first served basis, are particularly aimed at younger members of the business community who may not have experienced a recession before.

Clough & Company managing partner Steven Gash said these entrepreneurs will find the current financial climate "extremely unsettling".

"That's where the experience of our partners is invaluable, as most of them have lived through the recessions of the 1990s and 1980s and even the 1970s," he noted.

Mr Gash added that subjects that will be covered by the advice sessions will include managing relationships with other firms and knowing how to effectively work with banks.

According to figures from Barclays, UK business start ups were at the highest level ever recorded last year, with 471,500 new ventures opening up.
