Credibility of award win brings in new business.

A west Yorkshire firm that claimed the Queen's Award for Enterprise earlier this year has credited the win with opening the door to new business opportunities and a "large new contract".

Europlus Direct, which is based in Saltaire near Shipley, won its Queen's Award for international trade in April. It was one of 12 companies from the Yorkshire and Humber region to receive the honour in 2008.

Since then, the company has secured a major European contract and attracted interest from potential partners in the United States.

The firm's managing director Jim Hart said it has also built on the "credibility" of the award to launch a new business - the European Marketing Agency.

He added that the award helps to "catch the eye of potential clients and inspire their confidence."

Stephen Brice, secretary to the Queen's Awards Office said: "The Queen's Award for Enterprise is perceived by 55 per cent of winners as the single most valuable business award, the ultimate accolade."

He added that some firms had experienced increases of 60 per cent in sales as a result of winning the award.

The deadline entry into this year's Queen's Awards for Enterprise is October 31st.
