Wiggly Wigglers named UK's 'most innovative' small business

Innovative use of technology lands Dell prize for garden designer.

A Hereford-based garden design company that communicates with customers through technology such as podcasts, blogs and even a Facebook page has been named as the UK winner in Dell's Global Small Business Excellence Awards, it has been announced.

Wiggly Wigglers scooped the prize after being selected by a panel comprising representatives of Dell, the British Chambers of Commerce (BCC), the International Council for Small Business and the Daily Express.

The judges praised the company's use of cutting-edge applications to engage its 90,000 customers and promote products that combine "natural beauty with environmental sustainability".

BCC managing director John Dunsmore said: "We are proud to showcase Wiggly Wigglers and emphasise how technology can help our members thrive and grow their businesses."

The firm will receive a prize of £15,000 worth of Dell equipment, plus a day of "best practice sharing" with the company's executive team, including its founder, chairman and chief executive officer Michael Dell.

Dell established its UK business three years after the start of the company in 1987. The firm, which manufactures desktop PCs and laptops, employs around 1,500 people at is base in Bracknell, Berkshire.
