A care home in Torquay has picked up a government award in recognition of its dedication to staff training.
Sundial Lodge in Parkhill Road has engaged in a programme to develop workers at the establishment over the last two years, reports the Herald Express.
There are 30 members of staff working at the Torquay care home and they are responsible for 40 residents.
One of the points on the venue's charter, published on its website, is that residents have the right "to be cared for by appropriately trained and qualified staff".
The recent staff training drive at Sundial Lodge has earned the venue an Investors in People gong from the government.
Earning this honour means that the care home will be able to display an Investors in People plaque on the wall at the establishment.
Steve Vans-Colina, director of Sundial Lodge, said the company was "delighted" to receive recognition for its training efforts.
"We're delighted with this award. It has been a lot of work to get it. This is an award often given to larger companies so for us to get it is doubly great," he commented.
Dean Finch, the chief executive of Tube Lines, recently highlighted the importance of training workers.
He claimed that a company is only as strong as the skills and abilities held by employees, which was why the firm had continued to invest in its staff.
The official made the comments as the firm reached an important milestone in its staff development programme when it announced that 2,000 qualifications had been obtained by its staff.
