UK telecare service, CarelineUK, has been named a finalist in the National Business Awards under the Customer Focus Award for the Small Business category.

The head of CarelineUK, Carl Atkey, said, "CarelineUK prides itself on providing the best possible service to customers so we are delighted to have made this shortlist." He went on to talk about how providing staff training courses in customer service has enhanced its performance and benefitted its employees.

He explained, "As an employer we recognise effective training and development is essential for employees to deliver excellent customer service. We achieve this through performance development reviews, six-month training inductions and ongoing training programmes which can include external NVQs and diplomas."

The firm provides 24-hour advice and telecare services to users, which it finds can help people to live more independent lives. The service also reassures families who can phone CarelineUK if they have a question or concern about a loved one's welfare or care. It also provides advice for private and public service organisations.

The company says that 97 per cent of the people who use CarelineUK think the service either lives up to or exceeds their expectations. The firm claims that it is its investment in training for employees that has allowed it to achieve such a high level of customer care.

The judging for the awards will take place in September and the winners will be revealed in November.
