Who is the Management NVQ for?
This NVQ will help the managers in your organisation become more effective in their jobs, recognising their skills and experience and filling any knowledge gaps.
What will my staff learn?
The management courses cover a wide range of subjects, including:
- Solving problems and making decisions
- Understanding and planning change
- Working with costs and budgets
- Managing performance
- Managing customer service
- Giving briefings and making presentations
- Introduction to leadership
- Building the team
- Recruiting, selecting and inducting new employees.
How is this NVQ structured?
To help your staff develop a tailored programme to meet their specific needs, the Management NVQ includes a work profile tool. By analysing their current role, it identifies the most relevant units.
This means you can have several staff each taking a different route to achieve a Management NVQ, each with learning outcomes that relate to their own particular role.
Seven units must be completed to achieve the Level 3 Management NVQ. Four of these are mandatory:
- Manage your own resources and professional development
- Provide leadership in your area of responsibility
- Allocate and monitor the progress and quality of work in your area of responsibility
- Ensure health and safety requirements are met in your area of responsibility
Your candidates will choose another three units from a wide range of options. Themes include planning change, implementing change, monitoring and solving customer problems, and managing budgets.
How is the Management NVQ delivered?
We deliver this ITQ through one of our local learndirect Business centres.
Each employee has an initial assessment to identify any gaps in their knowledge, and which units are appropriate for them. Work-based learning and previous experience can be taken into account.
The qualification is awarded when evidence of competence in the workplace has been successfully collected and assessed.
Government funding is often available to support the cost of NVQs delivered in this way. If your organisation already has qualified assessors, you can purchase just the underpinning knowledge for this NVQ, which is hosted on our e-learning system.
