Amateur rugby league clubs in and around St. Helens can now access learndirect on-site - following the launch of an e-learning bus for the town.
The state-of-the-art facility is the result of a unique partnership between St. Helens Rugby League Football Club, St. Helens College and Granada Television.
Equipped with the latest EMT satellite technology and computing equipment, the 'tech truck' will tour amateur rugby league clubs in and around St. Helens and will be available to any adult - whether they want to learn how to send e-mails or sign up for a full learndirect course.
Gordon Pennington, from St. Helens RLFC, said: "If you're scared of computers this is the place to come as our trained staff will help take the terror out of technology."
David Dodd, Vice Principal of St. Helens College, added: "We are absolutely delighted with the e-learning bus. We're keen to let people know about this adult training facility and all are welcome to visit the bus and find out what we can offer."
The partnership of St. Helens College, Granada Television's 'IT's Never Too Late Campaign' and St. Helens RLFC has secured the funding from the UK Online initiative and the New Opportunities Fund. The aim of the partnership is to attract adults back into learning and to tackle the digital divide.
