"...nobody should feel excluded from learning."

Learn IT, the learndirect centre in Abington Street, Northampton attracted a very special visitor recently, when Junior Development Minster, Sally Keeble decided to drop in.

Sally Keeble MP, has recently changed her role in the government from transport to International Development and is now number two to Claire Short. She was visiting Learn IT through an invitation by John Harvey at the Learning and Skills Council, to find out more about the learndirect courses in available in the high street.

Ms Keeble was keen to chat with learners of all ages, in the high street centre and find out what had ' switched them on' , to on-line learning. As she discovered, for many people it was a case of either upgrading their current skills to improve their carer prospects and for many others it was so that they would not be left behind in this technological age. Learning how to use email and the internet came high on many peoples list, especially for those with family living abroad.

Ms Keeble said, "Learn IT, is the best of these high street learning centres I have been to so far, with its clean, bright and friendly atmosphere, there is a real feeling of success here.

"It is a credit to the team, that learning is seen to be fun and that there is such a diversity in age range and ability of the people that come here, nobody should feel excluded from learning."
