Learning changes lives, transforms businesses, communities and even nations. The learndirect Achievement Awards were set up to recognise and celebrate the achievements of the learners and employers using learndirect and the learndirect centres supporting them in their learning.
We have been delighted with both the level of response and the quality of entrants for these first ever Achievement Awards. learndirect's aim to increase the skills of individuals in order to help adults improve their employability and enable businesses to become more competitive.
We can only do that through the efforts of our network of learndirect centres, and the enthusiasm, professionalism and innovation of the people who work in them.
The learndirect Achievement Awards have provided us with great examples of some of the excellent work going on across the country, and the personal stories of success, progression and achievement make all of the short-listed nominees worthy winners.
The Regional Awards Ceremonies took place in June with short-listed award nominees, the learndirect network who supported the award nominees, award sponsors and key people from the learning and skills sector all attending these regional award ceremonies.
At the events regional winners were announced who have been invited to the National Awards Ceremony at Shakespeare's Globe Theatre in London that will take place on 15 October 2007.
