Adult learners celebrated

A woman is looking for a new dream job after gaining new qualifications.

Two adults who went back to college to learn new skills have won awards for their efforts.

Carol Cale and Gareth Evans have been named as winners for the High Achieve in Adult Education, the Yorkshire Evening Post reported.

The award was presented by representatives of the Crossgates Shopping Centre and Park Lane College, Garforth.

Carol left school at the age of 15 with no qualifications and while she went into work - she eventually found she wanted something more, the newspaper said.

She took a pre-CLAIT course and then GCSE maths, eventually completing several other qualifications including English and other subjects that could be applicable to a new job.

"Her new found skills gave her a massive confidence boost and she is delighted with her progress," reported the newspaper.

"Carol is now looking for employment and is confident she will find something to use her newly gained skills."
