A young apprentice from Bolton has won the Female Plumbing Skills award at the Association for Public Excellence Apprentice of the Year Awards for Housing and Building.
Jennifer Taylor was recognised for her skills earlier this year when she won the Apprentice of the Year gong at the Corgi awards in recognition of her impressive performance in gaining NVQ qualifications.
As well as her adult learning efforts, 19-year-old Ms Taylor also stood out while learning at work, reports 24dash.com.
She has worked for Bolton at Home for four years and was praised by her employer, who described her as "conscientious and enthusiastic about her trade".
While getting her qualifications, Ms Taylor divided her time between studying and gaining practical experience with Bolton at Home.
She said she was "so pleased" with her adult learning course and described her qualification as "valuable".
The rising star could be in line to pick up a third industry award as she has also been shortlisted to receive the Apprentice of the Year honour at the Building and Allied Trades Joint Industrial Council Construction Industry Awards, which are being held in December 2009.
Earlier this month, Brian Binley, the Conservative MP for Northampton South highlighted the importance of skills training in the UK.
He told the Northampton Chronicle and Echo it is vital for future generations and for business that there is not a shortage of skilled workers.
His comments came after figures from the Education and Skills Council revealed that nearly one in seven of Northamptonshire's potential workforce do not have qualifications such as NVQs or GCSEs.
