Wide ranging CVs boost online applications

Uploading a CV onto a range of different sites could help people looking to boost their applications, it has been suggested.

Making full use of the internet is key to helping people boost their job applications, according to a sector commentator.

David Hurst, the managing director of Onrec, an online recruitment site, said the employment market is both diminished and competitive at the moment and that big job sites' databases are likely to get bigger, with more people putting CVs on them.

However, there will be fewer jobs - which may make it all the more important for people to ensure they stand out when potential employers look through applications.

Mr Hurst recommends people scour the internet for the best places to find a job, which could mean putting a CV on a general site where prospective employers could find them.

He also suggests looking on a wider range of role boards, including those pertaining to niche sectors, which could be specific to a certain skill set.

"There will be many more people putting their CV online in the coming months and although many people know about online recruitment, there will be many people who are perhaps looking for a job for the first time in quite a while," Mr Hurst adds.

His comments follow the publication of the Monster Employment Index, which decreased by nine points over the course of November, reaching a 19-month low, with online job availability seeing the largest monthly fall since the beginning of the year.

It suggested demand for employment in the healthcare sector rose for the second consecutive month, with increases also being noted in the education and telecommunications industry.
