An adult learner has described how her confidence was increased after training to get more management qualifications.
Ali Tozer, licensee at Bassenthwaite's The Sun Inn revealed that she was prompted to look into ways to improve her skills after discussing the situation with a colleague, reports the Whitehaven News.
She explained that she wanted to streamline the way the establishment was run and improve her management processes.
However, the owner of the popular pub said she was uncertain about where to start and how to go about this.
Ms Tozer commented: "I knew I wanted to make some changes and I needed to take a step back to see the areas that needed work, but I found it difficult to find the time to do that.
"On a daily basis, the running of the business takes priority so other issues get left behind."
However, after speaking to an expert, she decided that the areas she needed to focus on were her time management skills, leadership ability and general management processes.
To improve her skills, she opted to enrol on an Institute of Leadership and Management course to achieve a level three qualification in management.
Ms Tozer said her training was "very beneficial" and she now feels "much more confident" running her establishment.
Earlier this year, adult learner Richard Stone was given a Peak Award for his dedication to improving his skills.
He told the Derby Telegraph that studying for an NVQ helped to raise his self confidence, despite the fact that he found the idea of going back into the classroom "really daunting".
