GCSE grades are out today and thousands of young people will now be able to
relax knowing their hard work has paid off. However, if you are one of the
many people who didn’t do as well as you expected, don’t worry! There are
lots of options available to you.
Online learning is a great way to boost your maths and English skills if
you want to have a go at retaking some of your GCSEs. Distance learning
courses can help you improve your literacy and numeracy skills in advance
of your retakes or simply to boost your confidence for whatever you choose
to do next.
If you decide retakes are for you, the first thing to do is to register at
an exam centre. Either do this through your former school or by contacting
the local examining board who will be able to put you in touch with your
nearest exam centre.
For people who want to get straight to work, an NVQ Level 2 Foundation
Modern Apprenticeship is a good option. Anyone with two or three D to G
grades or above can apply to a company offering this kind of apprenticeship
and with the government planning to increase the number of apprenticeships
available by 50,000 over five years, there has never been a better to time
to learn at work.
If you are considering going onto a sixth form college, seek advice on your
options and remember, vocational courses can be a great option for anyone
struggling with the more academic side of education and learning.
