New training opportunities created at expanded learndirect centre

The news that learndirect is expanding its Leicester centre will be music to the ears of local adult learners.

People all over the country who are thinking of taking an adult literacy or maths course and want to learn at home, will now have access to even better services to help them with their distance learning. The centre is being moved from another part of the city and will be expanded to take on 50 further employees in the initial phase alone.

The employees at the centre help adult learners with online training courses that boost adult learners' employability and general confidence.

Adrian Beddow, a spokesperson for learndirect, explained, “We decided to make this investment in Leicester because we already had a major operation here.” His colleague Gill Craven added that the e-learning options provided by the centre help people to get back to education regardless of their daily responsibilities. "In the current climate, people have to keep improving their skills and we want to make it easy for learning to fit around their lives," she said.

The news that learndirect is expanding in the city has also been welcomed by local councillor, Veejay Patel, who said, "I'm delighted learndirect has expanded its base in Leicester and warmly welcome the new jobs and opportunities that will be created for local people."
