Teesside women study NVQs to help advance business

Two women in the Teesside area are studying for their NVQ level four qualifications to further improve their business.

Tracey Macpherson and Lisa McCallay decided to start their own company after working in the health and social care industry for a combined 32 years. The two friends have now started their company, which is called The Personal Support Network. It provides guidance and advice to people who need social support and helps provide people with the independence they need to remain living on their own.

The pair set up their dream business with help from Business Link and are now both studying health and social care Level 4 NVQs. These extra skills will help McCallay and Macpherson to offer an even greater range of services to people in their area. "We knew what we wanted to achieve," declared McCallay.

Business Link advisor David Dixon said that the two women are “inspirational” and that their efforts show what people can do when they study hard and gain the skills needed to excel in their chosen career.
