If, like a lot of people, the World Cup has given you an appetite for a
career in sports or fitness, there are plenty of training options for
you.
With the Olympics coming to London in a couple of years time, and the
tennis season taking off, the nation has gone crazy for all things sporting
related, including sports careers. Investment from the government has also
boosted this interest, along with a greater awareness of health and obesity
issues.
The industry says that people of all ages are becoming involved in fitness
and sport, and many are considering it as a wise career move. Lots of
people are now choosing to retrain as a fitness instructor or coach, as
their second or even third career.
To get qualified, it is wise to first make sure your basic skills are up to
scratch with an adult literacy and numeracy course. Improving these skills
through a simple e-learning course will give you more confidence to go on
to further training.
The SkillsAcademy has recently put up £15 million to help pay for people to
take adult education courses in fitness and sports. There are bound to be
plenty of NVQ and apprenticeship opportunities in your area that could help
you to get that all-important first job in the industry.
Thinking of taking the
first step towards learning? See learners describe
their experiences, so you know exactly what to expect.
