A Malvern home-maker has said a computer training course, offered to adult
residents of the town, has completely altered her life.
Jayne Poole enrolled on the course – on offer at Malvern’s
learndirect and UK online centre at Festival Housing Group
– because she knew she did not have the IT skills expected of people
nowadays.
She had heard the course was an affordable means of learning those skills
and decided to sign up. She was delighted at the result.
“These training sessions have changed my life," she said. "I can now use a
computer and feel much more prepared to get back into work."
Festival is giving one-to-one training to adults who want to brush up on
their IT skills by letting them use their facilities during free organised
sessions with tutors.
The company is working to see that as many people can access the internet
as possible by providing computer terminals for the community to use. They
are also training elderly residents and have now extended this service to
all residents.
Les Milton, the Festival’s ICT trainer, is keen to spread the word about
the opportunities on offer, “We hope this will bridge the digital divide in
Malvern. I want to encourage those who are finding it difficult to learn
about computers to come forward and get some help.”
