Sarah just can't stop learning....

Sarah Lewis from Pontypridd just wanted to learn some new skills to gain independence but 4 years on…she shows no sign of stopping.

After a number of years studying English, Maths and Computing within Coleg Morgannwg’s Open Learning Centre in Pontypridd, Sarah has just completed her entry level 3 learndirect course in numeracy and literacy.

Sarah said: “I saw learndirect being advertised on the TV and when I discovered that the centre was offering the courses – I just had to try one out and have never looked back. Coming to the centre once a week has not only increased my skills but it has also allowed me to be more independent and gives my parents some time to themselves.

I rely on my parents bringing me to the centre and being able to learn at home has helped me to carry on learning at a rate that suited me where I didn’t have to be dependent on anyone. All the staff at the centre have been really helpful and I want to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone and I hope they allow me to another course”.

Sarah is now looking for her hopefully start on her Level 1 September.

"My advice to anyone to gain new skills is you won’t look back. about what people will everyone is always so helpful that you will new people and make adds Sarah.

Jeff Greenidge, Head of learndirect “Sarah’s hard work and enthusiasm to gain excellent skills and knowledge support her through everything I am pleased that the flexibility learndirect courses enable Sarah tremendous pace that she is hope that she continues."
